What We Believe

Core Beliefs

Amlin United Methodist Church is called by God to welcome all people, a place of Christian community for those new to the area or those seeking a fresh start. We believe it’s our mission to connect people with God, transforming them through growth and service.

We celebrate and affirm that in any community we cannot expect persons to think exactly alike, but we do believe that we are called to love alike. We believe all people are worthy of God’s love, no matter who we are or what we have done. This love is available for all within our community, regardless of race, origin, physical and mental ability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith history, or any other category. Nothing can separate any of us from God’s love shown through Jesus Christ.

We respect persons who have varied beliefs about sexual orientation and gender identity with no exclusions. At Amlin, we have genuinely welcomed all persons for worship and mission work, and have also welcomed persons of same gender sexual orientation as leaders within our church.

We believe that all persons are entitled to their beliefs and opinions and we welcome differing opinions that are shared lovingly and are not confrontational or judgmental. As a church, our differences make us whole.

We hope you’ll visit with us and participate in our community. You’ll experience a place where all are respected, we all do our best to love alike and we genuinely welcome everyone.

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic** church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*Traditional use of this creed includes these words: "He descended into hell."
**universal
